Moose,

Being from Westchester County, New York,,,,,,,

we had more than our fair share of Motion Performance cars
running around here...

Many racers (street and strip) would head out to Baldwin, Long Island
(about 90 minutes away) to see what was on the dealership lot.

One of the first Motion Performance cars to show up
in our area in the summer of 1967,,
a red 67' Chevelle with a 427 engine and Ram-Air hood.

Basically an A/MP car, that was driven on the street,,,,,,,

An 11.60 car, driven off the lot,,,,:)

Super Stock and FX Magazine
(September 1967)
Motion Performance, advertising the 67' 427 Chevelle, with Ram-Air

I remember seeing all of the Chevy Hi-Performance models advertised but don't recall seeing any Motion Oldsmobile's offered.

I came home from Nam December 16, 1968. I had been reading ads for 396/375 takeout engines($400) from Motion Performance in car magazines for over a year. A friend of mine and I drove a 67 Chevy 3/4 ton pick up to Baldwin , LI and picked up 4 396/375 takeouts for $1200. In 1972, I bought a Vega similar to the one in the photo, 350 LT1, muncie, 4.56 12 bolt, etc., but it was a Scuncio Chevy conversion according to the guy I bought it from. It was bad to the bone.

Re: Baldwin Motion Performance

I was wondering if all of those Baldwin Chevrolet cars advertised on their dealership window behind the 67 427 Chevelle SS photo were all converted at Motion Performance or did Baldwin do some of their own work.

And I bet those little Vega's with small block & big block engine swaps were quite the street & strip cars back then...I recall seeing a few of those on the streets back in the mid 70's but most were home built units.

Mack Markowitz was an Oldsmobile dealer in Hempstead NY. The dealership sponsored an NHRA 442 stocker at the time. I kind of remember the effort was an unsuccessful Markowitz Olds attempt to participate in the well received Baldwin/Motion venture with Oldsmobiles.
