Carb spacers
 

Any one try a 1" Super Sucker with an under carb throttle stop vs open hole 1" spacer?
SBC using a Super Victor Junior manifold and 4150 carb.
Also any preferene of the plastic vs the aluminum other than heat barrier?

Hey Drew. Super Victor or Victor Junior? Both will benefit with the Super Sucker, if it's big enough cubes the Super Victor will work(with a good head) I prefer the Victor Jr. with a 2" Super Sucker if you have the room.

Thanks for the repsponse. Sorry the intake is Super Victor not Junior. Not alot of cubes 357 but motor does make decent power as is. I have been using a open hole 1" spacer under the TS but am told by a few good sources the super sucker works well. Just wondering if anyone ever tried them under a Throttle stop and what the results were.

Drew, ran one on the roadster, made no difference...actually ran the best with no spacer..
Tim ran one and it ran worse...he runs his a little lower on RPM than some, and it made it worse...

Isnt the super victor taller in the plenum than a victor ? Have you tried with no spacer
?

Drew I put a 2inch 4 hole on Donny's car and it picked up. He put the base plate stop back on so if you would like to try one I mite let you use it.

Hi Drew
With the Super Victor and small cube, it would probably not make all that much difference in HP, maybe a bit better throttle response though. I have tested with them under the stop and had positive results, but not with big intake/small cube. Holler if you want to try one.

Dave, actually the previous testing on my combo was always with open spacers.
Never tried the 4 hole (always told it provides bottom end power which I certainly dont need) but the SS has somewhat a unique configuration that sounds interesting to try. You know me I am always trying new things. Hey ya never know.
I would like to try the no spacer option as well but the linkage needs to be shortened to do so which would be a pain in the azz to do at the track.
Ken, thanks for the offer but it cost me too much beer when I borough your parts so I figure its less costly to just purchase a new spacer.
All kidding aside I think with my manifold (tall) along with the Throttle stop, the 2" four hole may be a bit too much. That being said I am going to try the 1" SS vs the 1" open hole and see what works better.

Drew, I'll be watching,as now I have a small valve cover motor like you...Mine is a regular Victor Jr, with a 1/2 inch spacer for the primer plus, plus the TS...One "small" diff is that I'm running an alky carb vs parts washer...plus some more cubes (406)...

I really think that you should go south (maybe Florida or Georgia) and do some testing before the season starts so that I have a baseline to start the year with...

As a update........ I did switch to the 454-r intake and it was a improvement even more, the dart was just too large for my engine.
