Front tire size and RT
I currently run a 24” X 4.5” X 15” front tire @ 33 psi. Since I will be replacing them this off season, I was wandering how a taller or smaller diameter tire will affect RT.

Re: Front tire size and RT
Taller tires have a little more roll out and will slow your reaction time smaller ones will do the inverse. I run a 5.00-5 on my S/C dragster they are .02-.04 quicker that the regular 17" dragster wheels/tires but you must stage very carefully with them.

I've had many-.005 red lights with a 26'' tire
Should of had a 28'' tire! |
Re: Front tire size and RT
It all depends on your car and class. If your getting good RT with what you have been running then I would say stay with it.
I have a 66 Belair with a 383. For a full tree I use 30" but when I run a .500 pro tree I can't go red with them so I run a 26" and they work great. |

Re: Front tire size and RT
Unless you are blocking, you can find several hundredths difference in R/T on a Full Tree vs Pro Tree.
2" in tire size will get you roughly .015. For more information join www.thisisbracketracing.com. There's an extensive 10+ pg editorial on bottom bulb reaction times and how to adjust them. |
Re: Front tire size and RT
I should have said that when I run a .500 pro tree I use a 26" tire. Sorry.
