One of my co-workers works at Island as a Tech Inspector......

He was there over the weekend and has pictures....

The track has been covered with water a number of times in the last few years....and it's not something I can recall happening going back many years.

This past week the water is pretty much covering the entire facility form the pictures I saw.....

The entry road has areas under as well.....

I was hoping to get a few runs in before the Dutch Classic there but it's doubtfull

I live within a half hours ride of the track.....

This article I read this morning tells it like it is....

The one picture is right across the entry road from the track

Many years ago, the story goes. the Army Corp of Engineers devised a plan to drain the land...they dug ditches to carry the water away.....There is one running parallel to the track and divides the pit area.....I always called it the Moat.....It's usually pretty low......Not right now....!!!.

That is a sad site, I have many sweet memories of the Patch. Hope the surface is ok after it drains. Is that the same tower that was there in the seventies? Sure looks the same as back then.

Charlie I think almost everything is pretty much the same there going back to the '70s
The tower was rebuilt way back.... cause the original one looked like it was made of cardboard....

I went there for the first time about 1962 or 1963

The track was repaved a couple years ago and is very smooth....shutdown is a little bumpy but not bad....

I have run 7.70s there.....

Rich
The last big rain that you had was all over our SoCal news. I saw parts of the Ramapo River that were 20 feet over the norm. There was a shot of Little Falls dam that looked like Niagera Falls. I lived in Mahwah and remember Winters Pond flooding over Ramapo Ave many times when I was a kid.........................way different weather here in SoCal. Last time it rained here was last Christmas.

Charlie we have had so much rain the last 2 months the flooding issues have been like most folks have never seen.

I live in the same home for 40 years.....bought it in 1971...

Never had water in my basement other than a small area after a really wet spring....

I had ankle deep water at the low end of the pool twice in one weeks time.

Irene was one week and the following week just more heavy rain..

I was pumping water for days and had no sump pump....never needed one before!

Paterson was probably the worst area I saw on TV.....

I am very familiar with Little Falls......and a lot of that area was under water....as they almost always are...but worse than usual.

It's not fun dealing with flooding....Sheetrock and water don't go well together....LOL

Fortunately for me my basement is not finished and never will be....

A number of years ago when we had Hurricane Floyd I was out on a lot of jobs related to the flooding....that one was also very bad also....
