INDY Domination
20 of the top 25 qualifiers are mustangs and challengers, can the new camaro compete?

Mickey. as for the Camaro, a lot has to happen, and the first being a lite weight version by about 800lbs!

Re: INDY Domination
Go to Toby's SS class video on the "Live" thread and advance till there is about 5 min left...you'll see Martel in his class run...looks like he's driving a school bus against a race car. The Camaro's will have to get a cut body like Pro Stock/Mod to remotely stand a chance...not much more of a heresy than the grossly misfactored cars NHRA is running now. I like the new cars, they just need to be factored correctly but the new Camaro is just too BIG.

Re: INDY Domination
Mickey, the new camaro can compete with the other new cars if it gets the same bogus hp factors. The hp factors are the only reason these cars dominate.

Re: INDY Domination
In your dreams as I said before You can't race a Donkey at the Kentucky Derby there is much more than just Bogus HP Factores! Longer wheel base, wider, more frontal aera+ poorer aero, Very heavy all this = Donkey if you overlay the Mustang on the Camaro you see why the Mustang is a Race Horse!

If you give a new Camaro a supercharged LS3 engine and rate it at 180 horsepower,I would think it should be able to make the top 20 qualifiers. |
Re: INDY Domination
Maybe the same as the old Turbo Corvairs Monza let's see at 120 hp and a shipping weight of 3865 now what class is that?

Re: INDY Domination
Maybe new AFX classes for all the new cars.
I noticed that D. Fezell's Mustang has to weigh 3725 now. He triggered another hp hit this weekend running 1.21 under, will the car go over 3800 lbs on Tuesday? How does NHRA figure out how much to hit cars like this? Jerry |
