A question for you.Why was the 1966 full size chevy station wagon 283 cu.inch motor hit with horse power from 210 to 215. What was the reason for this. Anyone have the answer I know you do Danny. (IHRA)

the real question is WHY IN THE HELL DID IT EVER GET REDUCED FROM 220 ?????????

and now they (nhra & ihra) give it the bogus 327 afb intake #459 worth 17+ more HP

the 1957-1961 283 is 215 hp with the old 265 intake AND Smaller 4gc carb and you think 210 or 215 is right for the 64-66 ???

not to mention the extra 4+CC's in the head on the old motor

p.s. i guess you know why i refuse to run ihra until it is fixed back to 220hp...mailed them my membership card didnt seem to impress them

Capt. No that is your Question, I don't care what it should be, I just asked the question why. As for you and IHRA thats your problem.

Father Time, I believe it was raised due to Lee Tuttle going 1.515 under the U/SA Index at the last race to the season in 2004 @ Rockingham. I may be wrong about this but Danny can tell us for sure. Tell Billy nice job on the runner-up. Hope your health is good. Mike

Father Time, Mike is correct on that deal...The only bad thing is he was never torn down or anything else at that time..Don't know why,If it had been me i would have had to be checked..But then again i was checked everytime i set the record that year.Tuttle had a very fast car and only ran IHRA TWICE A YEAR IF THAT..Just my opinion ,he should have been checked before HP got hit..Too late now..I see nothing wrong with the 215 HP..If you look at other combos,some of those are no diff than the 283 ajustment..It was hitfor just the full size wagon and all others are still 210..May try that on mine after playing with 2 bbl,.,//./,../Just my .02 worth!!! !!!
