Trying to find Rampage 69 Camaro
Help, I'm trying to find the current whereabouts of a 1969 Camaro that was called "Rampage" back in the late 90's. The car was sold out of the Bloomsburg, PA area to someone thought to be from Maryland. The car was black with a glass front end, tubbed, aluminum dash, wheelie bars and ran a big block. Had gold lettering on the side with the name Rampage. If anyone remembers the car or knows who purchased it please respond or contact me at mamaem@msn.com. Below is a photo of the car. I'll try to enlarge but I'm having trouble with resizing. Thanks, Mike

Re: Trying to find Rampage 69 Camaro
My step father and I bought this car from 2 guys that lived next to Numidia Dragway in the mid 90's. We had just watched it go to the 5th or 6th rnd or so at the Bracket Finals the previous week and it seemed like a good consistent starter car for my step dad. Had a big block that gernaded on the 1st pass down 75-80 Dragway (for an oil pick-up they used window screen balled up with a hose clamp...real nice piece that motor was). Never forget it...took it there during the week to test it and kaboom on the 1st pass. Oiled the track and Bill Wilcom was not a happy camper. We paid for the stay-dry and had to clean the track ourselves lol ! We put one of our motors in it and it ran 9.20-30's all day and I even won a few races with it and my step dad got his feet wet as well. We were told this was an original ZL-1 car (thats right ZL-1) and was Bunny Burkett's old Pro Stock car but somewhere along the line somebody took the original firewall out and put an aluminum one in and moved it back so there was no cowl tag and the original dash was gone so there was no vin #. The vin's of the 69 ZL-1's that were built are documented but there was no way for us to really document this car. Anyway we sold the car in the late 90's and I can't recall who we sold it to. I have probably bought and sold around (75) 69 Camaros since then. I will do some research and see if my step-dad remembers but I do know this....that car taught me a lesson on buying turn key race cars and that is DON'T....Unless the owner wants to take you to the track and make a pass like when we bought our SS/GT Camaro from the Stanfield's. Allen made a pass... let me make a pass.... paid him and loaded it in my trailer and went home...everybody is happy !

Robbie, sounds like the same story. I sent you a PM.
Thanks Danny for responding. I'll look at that photo on Dragracecentral. Robbie, did it still have Rampage on it when you sold it? Thanks guys for the info. I appreciate it. Mike |
