Indy Class Pairings
How would you like to pair up the class elimination pairs in Indy this year? I think it should be a Pro Ladder... What do you guys think?

Re: Indy Class Pairings
Usually the higher qualified car before 1st round of class gets the bye if there is one, then the majority rules on how to pair up. I like taking a deck of cards with pairs for as many competitors as there are in the class. Then the 2s run each other and so on. This is the Al Corda method. It seems to work out very well. If someone has had a bye, they aren't eligible for another bye until everyone has had one.

Re: Indy Class Pairings
Line up and whine. I like that. A funny story. Last time I ran my 69 super bee in C/SA, I just drove to the front as I was the slowest out of 13 cars. It didn't matter and it was in the way of beer drinking. Everyone was so focused on drawing numbers, getting position, I was just sitting there and they forgot about me. I almost had the bye, but cooler heads prevailed and someone beat the stuffing out of me. It was different last year with the DP.

Re: Indy Class Pairings
Maybe if you played for my old car I might still have it. Where was all that concern then? I guess it's ok for me to get whipped, but not the opposite.

Re: Indy Class Pairings
If you whip somebody with almost anything but a DP or CJ then you would get some Respect, But you'll get none with this type of car unless your running against one of the same!!!!!!!

Re: Indy Class Pairings
I too carry a deck of cards in the race car just for this occasion.
The ladder system (sportsman or pro) only benefits the fastest cars in qualifying prior to class elims. If you are not the fastest, there is a chance of the fastest two cars running rd 1, thus eliminating the fact that a slower car would have to upset two cars instead of 1. The upsets at Indy (holeshots, etc.) make Class elims at Indy a "Don't Miss" day. Don't mess with a good thing!.... it ain't broke! (don't fix it!) |
Re: Indy Class Pairings
So it's ok for an old car to have a hp advantage over the field, but not a new car. Interesting theory. Bob Dennis will be happy to know that.

Re: Indy Class Pairings
Jeff, not sure it's gonna matter this year,.. for you. Everybody's gonna be "hiding" and you're going to end up a single ... in the combo Class Eliminator . JB.
