Minimum and maximum weight for Stk and S/S

Wording in the 2011 NHRA rulebook for Stock and all classes in Super Stock Eliminator concerning WEIGHT reads as follows:

“All cars will be permitted to run on the class minimum weight, but may be no heavier than the minimum for the next heavier class.”

We have been instructed in tech to put both the minimum and maximum weight on the weight sticker that goes on the car. The maximum weight is figured by taking the minimum weight for the next heavier class and subtracting 5 pounds.

At the scales the maximum weight is enforced the same as the minimum weight…too heavy or too light is a DQ.

Gives new meaning to the saying "get the lead out".

And all this time I thought the officials were just admiring my car. I guess I should have noticed the admiration was always from the weight sticker side.

Jeff, they were admiring your car, but they were also trying to figure out where you put all that weight! Jim

Most of it is in the drivers seat, or the beer box in the truck, but that don't count.

Travis,

So are you going to DQ someone for weighing 3 pounds under the maximum weight as it's defined in the rule book?? “All cars will be permitted to run on the class minimum weight, but may be no heavier than the minimum for the next heavier class.” If that's the rule it doesn't say anything about 5 pounds under the minimum.
