Fayetteville S/SS Combo Race
Congratulations to Jeff Warren and Curtis Smith for their win and runner-up, respectively, at the Warren Engines Stock/Super Stock combo race at Fayetteville Motorsports Park yesterday. I heard Jeff had not raced in a couple of years and Curtis was racing a car that he brought out of moth balls after 12 years. Curtis had to run Kevin Riner in the semis and Jeff had the bye. Congrats also to Corbitt Marshburn and the Longhany ride that made it to the last remaining 5 cars. Sorry I don't know which one of the Longhanys, but it sure was a nice looking A/SA Camaro. Corbitt was wheeling the hearse round after round and just hauling'm all off to the cemetery.
Special thanks to Warren Engines for sponsoring such a good race. I didn't make it past the first round, but that allowed for watching some really good action. Hope to see everyone at the CCRA event at Fayetteville on April 3. Bob Davenport G/PS Wake Forest, NC |

It was a really great day of racing at Fayetteville! It's especially nice to be able to visit with old friends and make new one's.I'm only sorry I had to leave early (too much to do and not enough hours in the day(s) to do it)!
Took some pictures - I'll post the rest in an album soon. Thanks again to the Warren Family for sponsoring this event! I now know where to make the turn for Clinton, NC:) Lew |

Re: Fayetteville S/SS Combo Race
Thanks for the pics Lew. Looking forward to seeing the rest of them when you get a chance. Enjoyed talking with you and getting to put a face with the names we see on this forum.
I was told by the track officials that we had 46 cars to enter, of which 43 made the first round. |
Re: Fayetteville S/SS Combo Race
Great day at the park. Super turnout of cars and people. FMSP has certainly solved the problem of low specator counts, someone brought em in on a tour bus.
Congrats to Jeff and Curtis, that all 69 final was a blast from the past. Good to see all our friends and get the season started. Combos are the best deal going right now imo, cant beat them for the money and fun. Thanks to Chef Richard, and the Strickland family for keeping me fed. I am dieting this week in preparation for Rockingham. DW, hope your back feels better, this is no time to be missing the action. See you folks at the Rock, I'll be there with 4000+ lbs of fun. |
