Div6 IHRA schedule
I was on the Eagle motorplex website and saw that they have the Pro Am schedule listed. I couldn't find it on IHRA's website though. The first race is the weekend before the NHRA divisional at Mission.
Just one month after announcing the creation of a new division in the Summit SuperSeries consisting of tracks in the western United States and Canada, the International Hot Rod Association is pleased to announce that it will also be expanding the Summit Pro-Am Tour as well with the creation of Division 6 consisting of five races in 2011 in British Columbia and Alberta. The newly created division, also known as the Border Bandits, will expand the IHRA’s regional touring series to include its new western markets and provide racers on the west coast who have never had an opportunity to compete for an IHRA title a chance to compete for points and a championship on the Summit Pro-Am Tour. “We have been looking to reach out to racers on the west coast for a long time and with the creation of the new division and with so many great tracks getting involved I think this is the first step in really making some noise in areas of the country we have never touched before,” said division director Frank Kohutek. “We are going to try some things out this first year, get racers used to the way these things are done, before we step it up and really grow the division over the next few years. This is certainly an exciting time to be a part of the IHRA.” The Division 6 Border Bandits will open their season the weekend of May 20-23 with the first and second races of the season at the Ni’Akapxm Eagle Motorplex in British Columbia. The third and fourth events will take place the weekend of June 3-5 at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton. Both races will be double race weekends. The fifth and final Summit Pro-Am event of the season in Division 6 will take place simultaneously with the MOPAR Rocky Mountain Nitro Jam Nationals at Castrol Raceway the weekend of June 24-26. Racers will score points using five out of five events with no out of division claims allowed. The newly created division is the next step in the IHRA’s plan to expand its grassroots, regional and national series to the west coast. In addition to being the top motorsports authority in Canada, the IHRA has also seen growth in the western United States with the addition of new tracks in Utah and Arizona with more still to come. Re: Div6 IHRA schedule
Hey Phillip,
They have the same posting on the Castrol Raceway Site and my understanding is that they will be running Stock and SS as separate classes which would be great. Hopefully they can get good support as it would make for more class racing closer to home for me. Are you planning on going? Darcy Clarke 6254 AA/SA, A/SA |
Re: Div6 IHRA schedule
I plan on going to the race at Eagle (Ashcroft), Probably run stock and super stock and it might be fun to set a record while we are there. I'm not sure about any of the other race's though. Depends on if I can win a little travel $$$$.

Re: Div6 IHRA schedule
Thanks Terry,
I did plan on calling to make sure that they would have staff there, I did that when I set the NHRA record at Portland in 2009. I think I'm the only reason the tech guy's brought there equipment.LOL |
Re: Div6 IHRA schedule
Looking forward to all the additional stock and super stock events, I should be able to make all 5 events lets hope some of the NHRA faithful at least dip their toes into the new pool. As an added bonus all cars are 3 tenths faster with out twisting a wrench.... haha. I wonder what the scale situation is going to be in Ashcroft?

Re: Div6 IHRA schedule
Phillip, this is why I'm glad that Tucson just joined IHRA, and also why I'm looking forward to waking my car up from it's Div. 5 area slumber to go racing again. I'm planning on running that Rocky Mountain Race too (I hope they get Stock/Super Stock back into their show/).
Dion, that's the biggest thing to make me grin (other than S.I.R. voting in the IHRA this year)is that added 3 tenths bonus that we'll get...but I'll have to get a new letter pack due to DF/S being a stick class in IHRA! :) |
Re: Div6 IHRA schedule
I agree with you Dion, the scale the last time I was there was unusable and would affect any record setting and ensuring legal weights. If everything goes well I will as well be able to go to all five and if they have separate classes then I could as well run both.
The 3 tenths is nice as well as some more relaxed horsepowers as will as Fuel Injected classes which helps slow old cars like my 2. We will as well be holding the Thunder in The Valley race again this year on the same weekend. So this means 8 events within 8 hours for me which is 5 more than last year, much more affordable. Re: Div6 IHRA schedule
They will bring their portable scales with them if needed. We use them at a lot of race tracks. Little more time consuming ,but it works.Hope you all enjoy IHRA out that way...and good luck to all..
