Re: Overlength Permit for California

Nevada last fall was the place that was being a problem with the 24 hr over length permits.
Nevada was going after trailers or tow vehicles with advertising on them last fall.
Mine has none and I did make it through without an issue to Las Vegas and on to Pamona.
I did witness leaving Pamona travelling down I-40 near Needles some of the Pro's T shirt vendors on the side of the road unhooking the trailers with the CHP watching. I assumed they were waiting on another tow vehicle to come and get the trailer to be under the length law.
I am scheduled to do the same this year and hope to make it through the same way.
Here's Hoping It Works Again

Re: Overlength Permit for California

CA is 65' total length, but I have heard people say that 70' is allowed if you can prove you are going to a sanctioned event for racing.

What is the deal with Nevada though? I will be going to Vegas for the national and divisional, and don't want to take my chances. My rig is 65' overall, but no advertising on it. Anybody know the rules, or if I need a permit and where can I get one. Thanks.

Hi Jim & Pam,
As you know we were in CA last summer and we just took the advice of other racers and stayed on the main interstates. We were overlength (about 78'), but with no advertising on our motorhome or trailer. We just didn't speed or do anything stupid and didn't have any trouble at all. We also went across Nevada at some point and no problems there either.

Good luck to ya'll!
Patsy

I believe the logo on the trailers get a lot of people in trouble. With logo on the trailers they seem to think commercial. I'm 68' and have never (knock wood) had any problems.
