Re: Quaker City Auction

Since we are having one of our Buckeye Stock SuperStock races there this weekend I've spoken to Dan. Dan is way past the point of retirement from the track and just wants to be done. He told me that he feels very confident that it will remain a race track. The auctioneer has had 5 or 6 interested parties thru there that want to operate as a track and he said they have the funds to purchase. He told me that it will be sold. The last IHRA points race there was one of the best races I've ever attended. There were fans lined up down both sides of the track, full stands and fans roaming the pits.

It has been a veryy long time since I was at Quaker City, but it would be a shame to lose that track.

Hope it all works out well for Dan, and the new owner whomever it might be.

I really hope someone buys it and does something good with the place. It's my home track, and has been going downhill for the past ten years. Switching to AHRA sanction this year about destroyed it. I did a S/SS race there in July, and they didn't have half the cars they used to have in their weekly program. Racers left to run Pittsburgh, Thompson, 42 and Norwalk so they could run for NHRA/IHRA bracket finals, from what several folks told me, Plus I've heard multiple complaints about the management over the past 3-4 years. I hope new owners can turn it around.

I don't want to see it lost either. I have enjoyed running there, but the way it has been run has been very spotty the last couple years. I was there at the last proam that had the night of fire as well. The stands were packed and the fence was lined all the way to the finish. That is a very good area for racing, so I hope it does get left as a track.

It was sold today. Looks like it will remain a dragstrip.

I hope so too. It's my home track, first track I ever actually raced at in 1999, first track I ever won a round and a race at, in 2000. Would have been a shame to see it go under.
