Chris Wertman RIP
It saddens me to announce the passing of Chris "Drooze" Wertman Saturday night at 8:30. Though I only knew him for the last two months as a team member and a friend, he will be missed by all that came in contact with him. His humor and posts on Classracer was classic. He was devoted to the Mopar DP project. Our prayers go out to his family and friends. Keith Lynch and Family.

Re: Chris Wertman RIP
So sad to hear this. Our hearts go out to his family.Only "talked" to him a few times on here, but we never met. His candle didn't burn long, but you can't deny it did burn brightly. I think we all are a little bit better off for having been introduced to Drooze. There was an enthusiasm there that was undeniable, even if it was the classic 2 steps forward and 1 step back story. The man didn't give up and I'll admire him for that. Godspeed, Chris.

Re: Chris Wertman RIP
I got the text this morning. It still hasnt set in. I just keep thinking that its some sort of elaborate hoax. Chris an I had talked about how no press is bad press on a regular basis. I did not want to say anything on class racer till someone a little closer to the family made a proper thread about this.
I thought for sure that I would be the talk of class racer and or class racing as a whole this year, with my unorthodox platform and unnatural aspirations. Thus far it has not been my over thinking or complicating, not so midlife crisis, or my fiscal roller coaster that have delayed finishing my car that has kept me from being the talk of class racing in 2010. It was Chris "Drooze" Wertman. I could of gone out there and and qualified 1 an set records every race, and Drooze would still have the spotlight. I have been a lurker on this site for years. Did not start posting until this year. I may be a wrong wheel drive guy, or an import guy in some peoples eyes around here, but I am am no stranger to nhra sportsman racing. With that being said.. I was always a little concerned with how I may be received on class racer. I remember first reading some of Chris's posts and thinking "Man they're going to eat this guy alive.. He will not continue to post" I admit even being a newb to class racing I did not take him serious at first. And all though the NHR guys have not accomplished all there goals just yet... I think they have shown us while they may be a little green, they are to be taken serious. I hope you guys continue and use this as energy to shoot for some records and some wins. I can just here Chris saying oh this is marketing genius! Im not trying to make light of the situation... I just really could see him saying this! MR Lynch.. I dont know what the future holds for you and NHR, but I am shooting to have my A/FS car at Bowling Green, and hopefully that will get me in to Indy... I live north of Cincy and am in Dayton and go to Kil Kare all the time. Let me know if you could use any help in the mean time. Anything from logistics to shop cleaning. |
