Same Car, 2 different Classes , 2 Different Drivers ?

Ok....Ive got to be missing this somewhere in the rulebook.

Can a car be registered and run in 2 different classes by 2 different (or even the same) driver ?

Say Stock AND Superstock ?

I know there are issues that would be problematic, such as hotlapping from Stock to SuperStock, and breakage taking it out of both.

Can someone point me to the page this is disallowed in the 2010 rulebook.

Or is it allowable ?

Cheers

Chris

I'm going to take a guess and say no because I have never seen it done before...I hope I am wrong on this.

No .one car and one driver and one class per event. IHRA rule book page 116. If you have 2 cars you can run 2 dif classes one driver ,but not 2 stockers or 2 ss or 2 8.90 or 2 9.90 or 2 10.90. two dif catagories and two dif cars.Oh and as of right now you cannot buy back if you lose 1st round.

I believe there is a sentence that says "once a car is classified it can't change class"

RACE PROCEDURES
QUALIFYING
"...a contestant cannot drive more than one vehicle in the same category in the same event, nor can one vehicle be used for multiple entries. ... Vehicles must remain in the same category entered, with one registered driver for the duration of the event."

CLASS CHANGES
"After a contestant's vehicle has been inspected and classified, no changes of class are permitted."

I think that is the AB rule from back in the Modified days.

That's what Bracket racing is for.
