are the frame mounts on a 6cyl the same as a small block on 69 nova?

Re: motor mount question
Can't remember exactly but I think they are the same stands with engine mounts on engine being different and same stands on frame.I think 6 & small block were the same and big block stands different.

Re: motor mount question
Greg,
As I remember the frame brackets were different, because of the the way the six sat in the chassis, versus the V-8. I believe the V-8's all used the same frame bracket, Group 0.029. Lew |
Re: motor mount question
I had to change out the frame mounts (stands) on my '71 when I went from the 6 banger to a SBC.

Re: motor mount question
The frame mounts are the same as 1st gen Camaro, but I cant recall L6 frame brackets being the same or not, and parts houses are not listing them separately... My 68 had a straight 6 when got it, but we changed that out in 1987 and I cant remember that far back.

Re: motor mount question
usta be the big trick was to use small block frame mounts with a big block (set the engine back a bit) but i cant tell ya as far as the 6 vs 8 frame mounts.
i got a pair of V8 ones if you need 'em.... |
Re: motor mount question
From memory, the frame brackets are different for 6 cyl., small block, and big block. If I am correct, the small and big block mounts differ in the offset side to side ie the big block mounts move the motor slightly to the right for clearance from the factory. You can bolt the big block into the car on small block frame mounts, but may have issues such as header clearance or oil pan depending on what you have. Companies like Elston headers apparently have a Camaro clip setup as an adjustable jig for whichever set you are using and need to know to properly fit their custom headers to your chassis. There might be info on their web site, but in any case the different frame brackets are readily available from Year One and other reproduction suppliers. Hope this helps....
