Bellhousing access window?

1 Attachment(s)
I am looking at purchasing a Quicktime Bellhousing, should I order the optional access window? I have heard that the window may not line up with the clutch adjustment. Is this true?

Here is the discription from their website.

RM-6.1 WINDOW
  • Access window for clutch adjustment 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" Hole
  • Can be added to any of our bellhousing
  • Modification must be done by QuickTime
  • Carries a 2 year 6.1w Certification
  • Modification takes approximately 1 week
Thank you,
Larry

I am sure it would depend on the clutch, and Quicktime could probably assist with answering that question. The window would also make adding or removing CW easier as well.

You definitely want this. It allows you to change the counter weights without trying to go through the clutch fork hole or slot. Doing it the old way is like working on a watch with a pair of big wrenches with the fork, shift rods and headers in the way as you try to R&R three small nuts and bolts.

Re: Bellhousing access window?

I've sold a few friends on those bellhousings.
Fact:
*12lbs lighter than a Lakewood
*Not as "square" and "bulkier" as a Lakewood & allows for easier installation & removal with headers!
*Compatable with todays aftermarket transmissions, no cutting, grinding, drilling & tapping.
*Dead-On-Dowel holes, centered without dowel modification when installed on all the Chevrolet applications!
*The window offers you exposure to fine tuning with the counterweights.

The Negatives:
* You still have to drill a hole at the bottom of the bellhousing to check your "air gap" once installed!
* You'll need to have the bellhousing re-certified sooner with the "window option"
* You'll need to purchase Lakewoods adjustable pivot ball for correct clutch-fork alignment. The one that comes with the QT bellhousing is not adjustable!

Will tech give me problems if I drill an extra hole in the bell?
