Is there life after racing for your car?
If something were to happen to racing as we know it, for what ever reason. What would happen to the racecar that brought you so many memories? Would you park it, cover it up and walk away only to be burried in it one day? Would this be that one day? LOL Would it become a show car, a street rod, pro street, restore to original condition? Would you part with the car, or find another way to enjoy it and savor the memories? Is there life after racing for your car? I guess it depends on the connection, commitment, dedication, to that thing. I have a huge connection to my cars as the creator, builder, designer. Although I have sold some along the way, I still have the one with the most memories. And when I drive it or work on it, I reflect on those good times. That is very therapeutic for me, and something to think about. I am building a new car (60 Corvette) and hopefully can build some great memories. I will surely love racing it, and I'm building it to last. Because you never know when that Super/Stock car will retire or be phased out, and be put out to pasture (back on the street) with this old man at the wheel. Here's my yesterday and today photos of the ole Roadster

Wade, I cannot wait to see pics of that '60 Corvette rolling into the lanes. The caliber of previous racecars that emerged from your stable tells me that the latest version (the Corvette) is really going to be something special. How about the latest pics on the progress of it?? :)WJ

Re: Is there life after racing for your car?
my 67 nova will be street legal, yes, still will have wipers, turn signals, etc. and will run in ss/em, ss/fm, ss/ph-1. so we will put a milder motor and change rear gear and cruise.

The plan has always been to restore dad's car one day, so that he can see just how fast he can lose his license. However we still haven't replaced it with something else to race.

Ya , leave the stickers on it and drive it to work I'm with Bob that one . Every stop light would bring back all the past racing history .

Re: Is there life after racing for your car?
I plan on putting my current 70 nova back on the street when NHRA folds like a cheap suit (I hope it is not for another 20 years) nothing fancy with the motor, a daily driver. I will remove the stickers but leave the flames and drive it to the local market for coffee and the newspaper. Thursday night car show, it should be a blast....

Re: Is there life after racing for your car?
In the process of returning mine to it to the street. Not as easy as it sounds. Lots to change. Lamb brakes don’t’ work well on the street. Along with rear, Transmission, Converter, wheels, tires, d tune the motor( just a little) and do you take out the cage?

I'm going to put studded snow tires all around on mine and go Ice Racing! In the summer I can put a mower deck under it and mow my lawn.
