How old does a driver need to be?

Can a 16 year-old drive a 9 second Stoker? If so do they need a compitition license?

X2 - 9.99 or quicker requires a competition license. 10.00 or slower, just a driver's license to race local. Add a membership and competition number to run at divisional races. You have to be 18 yrs. old to compete at national events. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the information, they need to get their grades up before I'll give them the keys.

A 17 can enter into a National as long as their 18th birthday is on or before the day of the event...this was my down fall when i won the race of champions...a mere 43 days short of competing in Pomona for the World Championship, but i believe as long as you have a drivers license you can race everything but a professional category, with the appropriate license of course

Is Stock a professional category? I thought it was classified as sportsman.

I know they need a regular drivers lic. prior to attempting to get a competition lic.....

As for the age, it would all depend on the driving age of the state you live in....Here in Florida its permit at 15, and lic. at 16...

Stock is a Sportsman category, but you have to be 18 on the day of, or before, a National event in order to compete in any category. You can enter at 17 but you must turn 18 on or before the event. This rule only applies to National events; not Divisionals or Opens.
