Side mirrors in Stock

I notice many people don't run the side view mirrors in Stock Eliminator. I have two questions:
Has anyone done a comparison to see how much time they picked up?
Also where can you buy block off plates for late model cars?

Not only aero but how much do they weigh ? 1/2 lb each would be more than enough in my book to see them hit the "junk pile"

Some of the old pot metal plated are downright heavy enough to be a weapon.

Summit (and a whole lot of other places) sell carbon fiber sheets enoung to do 2 of em....nice and light.....

I wonder if anyone makes a blank that bolts on like the stock mirror, similar to the passenger side on cars that don't come with a mirror.

They come in handy when you race at a track where you have to back into the waterbox.

I always ran one until this year when it dissappeared on the starting line at Maple Grove about the time I left the clutch out..... The glass came unglued from the housing.

The amount of gain in et would be minute. May be easier to check gain in mph.

I guess I was figuring that in Stock you are always trying to find tiny advantages, and maybe this would help. I just don't want it to look ugly without a proper block off plate. I don't care if it's made or bought though.

Jeff,
In a P/SA you will need your mirrors.

I run both mirrors on my car, but I'm a old bracket racer. They let you know were the other car is with no blind spot. If you only have the rearview mirror you can't see everything and the can sneak up on you.

I run both mirrors on my car, came in handy at a nat open when i was getting hunted by a ss/ah car......watched him the whole way down the track beat him to the stripe. Wouldnt have happened had i not been able to spot in my mirrors

Most definitely, but what if I mount some inside ones? Those round convex style, and maybe a wink style rearview.

You will need an outside mirror on the driver door to watch the left lane.
