No recert on flexplate??

I just found out from JW Performance that we can no longer get a flexplate recertified, will have to buy a new one every 3 years. I'm thinking this is a fairly new rule, or have I just been out of touch? Anyone else have info on this?

It's been my experience that most manufactures will not re-certify flex plates.

Re: No recert on flexplate??

About 10 months ago TCI told me they would recertify so I sent it in. Then they called me and said they were no longer recertifying and would only give me a discount on a replacement. With their "discount" it was still more expensive than buying it with the Jegs competition discount, so I effectively spent $30 to ship them a part I'll never see again.

JW used to do ring gear replacements and recert, but stopped a while ago........My experiance has been that all the mfgr's must use the same ring gear,[ie. junk] ........I've had better luck with the inexpensive TCI wheels than any of the expensive "trick " wheels .......At $40-$50 a shot , I'd rather put a new inexpensive wheel in once a season , and spend the money I saved over the "trick" wheel on a good starter. ......Tom

Wish I could get by that cheap, but I'm running a Mopar with a glide, the flexplates are about $215.

TCI will recert as long as it is a TCI flexplate & depending on part # --- $65

When was the last time you asked them? See my post above - less than a year ago I was told they would, so I sent it in, only to be told that they had quit doing it.

Hey Michael....
I spoke to TCI today about one of my BB Ford to a glide flexplates and the guy I
talked with asked me which part # I had & that it would be a $65 charge to mag it
and recert it.
