6.0L Chevy engine mounting

I want to put a 6.0L 2004 Chevy truck engine in an older Chevy. Are the engine mount locations and bellhousing pattern the same as a 350 Chevy? Will a 350 flywheel fit?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

no ,close and no
adapters are available for the moter mounts and flywheel ,and i think just 1 bolt hole is off on the bellhousing. i'm sure someone else here will know for sure on the trans.

The bellhousing is missing the highest bolt hole on the right side, the one your dipstick tube usually anchors to, not a big deal just that you have 5 bolts instead of 6.

The mounts are different but all you need to do is make a peice of plate that adapts your gen 1 mounts, There is 1 bolt hole that is in the correct location for the lower bolt of the gen1 mount, I think its the front lower hole.

Must use LS style flexplate, AND if you're lucky you're 6.0 is from an earlier truck, 99-02 i believe, because they have an adapter bolted on with the flexplate that accepts a normal gen1 torque converter pilot. If you don't have one of these you need a LS style converter.
(gm did this because of the overlap of 2 gens of trucks and engines which both used the same 4L80E trans/converter)

You may need to elongate the converter bolts holes in the flexplate for use with normal converters, some had a metric bolt pattern that is close to the older large pattern but not close enough.

Hope this helps

Bob,

There is a ton of ifo on the LS1 Tech website in the conversion forum http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/index.php

I bought the Edlebrock adapter mounts for my 71 Chevelle and so far the engine is a drop in deal. I also got the GMPP oil pan kit, also seems to fit great although it only holds 4 qts. It is aluminum though and should be pretty easy to modify for more capacity. My older Lakewood Bellhousing bolts up fine along with my Doug Nash 5speed but I only have a bare block and heads so I cant try a flywheel / clutch combination yet. Lakewood does show a different bellhousing for the LS engines but I am not sure what the differences are. I had the one off my small block so I am using it to get the trans, shifter etc in place for now.

Hope this helps,
