Crate motor stock
Has NHRA ever toyed with the idea?Do racers take well to it?I just figured that with the improvement in performance of the late model injected cars and the already fast older muscle cars the smog year cars might be intersted in a little way to step up the pace.Limit the swaps to same engine faimily for body used{i.e. only smallblocks in 3rd gen f bodies and G bodies ect.} with a handful of nhra selected OEM built crate motors from each of the manufacturers.Engines could be prepared to otherwise stocker legal status.I was wondering if there is a reason why NHRA never tried it.

Re: Crate motor stock
Looks like it's headed that way in AA and A.
BTW Billy my friend out west has located that Tijuana taxicab blown, dual quad, Edelbrok Aluminum head 230 Chevy six rated at 95 hp in the old guide, he even has the Zora Duntov letter to NHRA stating that it came in some Nova's shipped to Jersey. Should he ship it to your place or you gonna pick it up? |
Re: Crate motor stock
it is about the only idea tha NHRA has never stolen form IHRA.

Why don't we just make Stock easy for everybody and make the rules as simple as possible so that all of the body combos can use any motor! Let's see, how about 9.0 to 19.99,must have stock OEM appearing body, flat hood and 9" tires. No classes just STOCK Eliminator. First 128 cars entered at an event make up the field and they just dial in and race! That should benefit everybody from the racer to the sanctioning body! |
Re: Crate motor stock
Billy - Don't give them any ideas!!!
