RIP Joe Allread

Joe passed away weds night, 11-11, after a fight with cancer. From his daughters' posting on the HAMB:

I'm sorry to relay to you via email that my dad passed away early this morning.

Information for services is pending and we will notify you by email when we have everything set.

We find comfort in the fact that he didn't suffer with pain for very long.

Joe will be missed. Another member of the Valley Boys. Their cars and knowledge and experience was the basis of a lot of West coast excitement in Jr. Stock... The magazine articles were the start of my fever for Drag Racing a Stocker. Rest in Peace Joe. Thanks for the excitement in Stock and SS.

Re: RIP Joe Allread

My buddy Gary Boze and I had the privilage in 1974 to go to Indy with joe as his crew (he did all the work) it was a great experience to see drag racing from the factory perspective at the time, joe was driving a ss/k challenger at that time. For me it was very eye opening, I also will never forget that there was no tachometer in that car and I remember joe saying he just didn't need one.
Rest in peace Joe,

I recall reading a magazine article back in the mid-late '70's about Joe Allread. Forgot the mag name but story title was "Brown Baggin' It. It was about his Challenger. I wish I could find it.

RIP

Hello All,
Joe Allread's daughter, Deb, here. We've read your kind words with pride. He loved racing and building race engines. Seems he'll be missed by many.

Very nice, cordial man. Met him several years ago at Indy. He was very polite and answered my questions with complete honesty.

Condolences to the Allread Family,

Wade

Thanks to all who turned out for Joes memorial yesterday. It was very well attended and I am sure Joe was smiling down from Hemi Heaven.
