Las Vegas 1st rd

It looks like there were a lot of no shows 1st round of S and S/S. Whats the story?

There may have been some stockers that believed the schedule posted Friday stating that first round of stock would be Sunday morning!
As only D-7 can do the schedule was revamped Saturday morning re-scheduling first round of stock for Saturday evening!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This wasn't the sole misguided change I am sure!

I was broken.

Vic Hobbs lost an engine.

I was told Robert Pond had engine issues.

Not sure about the rest.

The whole issue of the run sheet for this race was crap!!! We did not get a first time run on friday until late
friday night because they decided to run a bunch of dragster stuff all day friday into the late part of the night
then they changed the run sheet for Saturday for a early time run at around 9am after Super Something class then a second hit at around 3pm and then they felt due to the car count they wanted to run first round of eliminator at 7 or 8 pm, It was crazy!! Lots and Lots of no shows for first round and people taking there sweet time to get to the lane's.... Oh ya! But Top Fuel Harley got 4 runs how cool is that??
Super Stock First round was even later.... I really don't think hi car counts and our division make a good couple in my opinion.

And YET you guys still keep going to those races.........Cant figure it out.....kind of like how our idiot politicians keep getting re-elected over and over and over I guess. You are glutions for punishment. The public must really like taking it up to old "WAZOO" .There should be SOMEONE with more money than brains someplace who could and would start a sportsman racer association and want to take on the abuse of the racers everytime something went wrong. By the looks of some of the motor homes and towing rigs I imagine a lot of you could afford two sportsman associations if you wanted to. Gezzzzz I bet running a sportsman assoc. racing associations would be better than sex.....LOL. I dont know about the rest of you but I for one would support a true SPORTSMAN Assoc. 1000%. Isnt it time to WAKE UP and chart your own destiney? No friggin Pro cars, No Aolcahol FUNNY CRAP AND ENGINES ON A STICK, no circus acts. Why dont you give the current races a rest for awhile and let NHRA (and/or IHRA) bite a big one sometime? Would it kill you? Naaaa never happen.....racers cannot and will not stick together. Everyone is looking out for their own self interest and look at what it gets you. Maybe it would be better to build a jet powered school bus or a few extra fuel burning Harleys to continue the circus. I think the time has come, been here, and left the building for doing this thing we call drag racing as usual. Oh well.....I know Im just typing this to watch my fingers flutter.

Did Robert Pond set the A/S Record ? Since he didn't show for first round, I thought maybe he tore down and didn't run.

Dave,
As far as I know no records were set in stock or any teardowns were performed at the Divisional.
It really was weird to see so many no show's for first round. My first round i was paired up with someone
from out of our division that did not come to the lanes until at least 10 pairs of cars went down the track
and we were the last pair to go for first round, Back in the day the lanes would have been shut down way
before that, but things have changed in that matter also, kind of crazy if you ask me.

Terry,if you wanted to start a major sportsman association you would fall into the same trap as the new AHRA.What tracks would you run at?NH/IHRA wouldn't let it fly.And there aren't enough quality independent tracks to make a national sportsman schedule.

Hi Ed......I didnt say I would want to it anymore. Thought about it awhile back and saw it wasnt for me at this stage of my life. Im not that crazy or stupid....well maybe stupid....LOL. Besides I dont have that kind of money to throw at an enterprise such as that. I DO believe it could be done IF someone had the finances and the thick skin to put up with all of the BS thrown at him or them. With the right finances, backing, and support from sponsors and racers the tracks wouldnt be such a problem. There are those out there who have that kind of money if they were interested in doing such a thing. As it stands NHRA and IHRA have the tracks by the "GONADS" because of INSURANCE, SPONSORS, past history, and most of the racers who are tunnel visioned. They (NHRA and IHRA) are a proven operation. It will be interesting to see how the new AHRA will handle the race track problem.
P.S. There are some very deep pockets out there and some have thought about it....We could only hope.
