The rumor of the day
http://www.bangshift.com/blog/IHRA-C...-for-2010.html
IHRA considering changing redilghts from "first" to "worst". If they do this in class racing it will just decrease them number of NHRA cars that cross over and run IHRA. |
Re: The rumor of the day
Chad,
Can you explain to me why you think this change would in any way affect the number of cars crossing over? All it does is level the playing field in the interest of fairness. What's wrong with that? |
Re: The rumor of the day
Dragracingonline.com reported last Friday that NHRA is considering the same change.

Re: The rumor of the day
well one of the advantages of building a higher class stocker or SS car has always been your opponents opportunity to hand you the race by going red first. I would think that in addition to the crate motor classes, stock gt, etc, this would be one more reason to not go race IHRA, especially if NHRA doesn't change it as well (they won't). Its tradition, ever since the first handicapped start. If they want to apply the change to bracket racing, fine. but leave class racing alone
edit: I was listing the reason as a reference for those who are always looking for a reason to not race IHRA. Our main reason is only one race close by. |
Re: The rumor of the day
Why is it a good thing to stay on your converter for three seconds when you have already won?
|
Re: The rumor of the day
Because you haven't already won until you leave. You may redlight worse than the first car did.
No red light will show until after BOTH cars have left the line. |
Re: The rumor of the day
Waste of time, all you need is a two way radio and when your crew tells you to abort you let off. It wont fix anything or level anything.
|
Re: The rumor of the day
I would love to see this. Yes, make it a level playing field.
Chad, if NHRA cared about tradition, the '55 - '57 Chevy's would still be running stock elim. |
Re: The rumor of the day
No red or win lights will be shown till the second car launches....so a crew member with a radio won't help.
