Drug Testing perNHRA
I for one am glad that we have DRUG TESTING. If any one at INDY feels bad about having to go, I am the one.. I lost a motor and while puting the car in the trailer I was handed a DRUG TEST. I sign and told the lady why not kick a guy while down but told her I had no problem to go and have a test.
Great that NHRA suspended a Pro Stock Motorcycle rider "BECAUSE" HE did not show UP FOR THE test.. HE HAD 24 hours TO SHOW UP. CLERMONT, Ind. - Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Matt Guidera has been disqualified from this event and suspended for a period of one year it was announced today by NHRA officials. Guidera failed to comply with the NHRA's drug testing policy within the required 24-hour time period. NHRA drivers have 24 hours from the time they receive the drug testing paperwork from the testing lab to comply with the policy during the drug testing process. Guidera will retain his points in the NHRA Full Throttle Countdown to the Championship. Per the NHRA rulebook, Guidera is entitled to an appeal. |

Re: Drug Testing perNHRA
I had to do drug testing at Pomona a few years ago. Very professional, took about 15 minutes out of my day, no big deal at all. I, too, am glad it's being done. People you would never suspect use drugs on a recrational basis and I don't want them on the track next to me. It is my understanding that NHRA officials are randomly checked, too. And, if my memory is right, Compton's DUI was on his private time. You think there aren't NHRA-licensed drivers out there that don't have a DUI on their record? I know some that do. People make mistakes; hopefully they learn from them before they harm someone.

Re: Drug Testing perNHRA
Working for a group that looked into and started a "Drug testing program" according to guidelines that go with the implementation of any program you can not single out anyone in the " business, corporation,etc...for testing OR EXCLUDE anyone from testing from the top to the bottom of said group..... there are laws that cover these programs so if the racers are the only ones being given random tests this breaks the laws of the monitored programs because the drug testing program of the NHRA also includes "all the officials of NHRA"......if you are seeking employment with a company that has the drug program as part of the employing process that is NOT random and has different guidelines......the one thing that I wondered is why they don't always ask to see your current drivers license when you register or show up at the gates at the event, if you are under state license suspension for any reason you don't have a current drivers license and technically not allowed to compete at an event.....

Re: Drug Testing perNHRA
I remember when Reagan was President and pushing for drug testing. My response was, I'll take a drug test if he takes an economics test (that's what I teach) and which ever one of us passes gets to keep his job. I wasn't worried about losing mine. BTW, I'm still in favor of applying this policy to any President.

You can do anything you want to as long as its with in the law!!!!!!!! On your (private time) is that what your saying???? ..... I agree, but when you drink and drive nowdays,( was he thinking,) say look at me, they wont get me,im the prez. Of NHRA. they cant do anything to me.. If that was what he was thinking? Then we have a problem!!! HE IS NOT ABOVE THE LAW..... 1.Did he jump thought all of the hoops after the DUI?? 2. What was his blood alcohol level?? 3.Was he on any thing else??? As NHRA members do we get those answers??? NHRA wants to know all about our lives!!! .im surprised that you race at all coming from the land of the whackos out there......... (whats good for the goose is good for the gander) ya ok, it is good for all of us,but from the top to the bottom... End of story.......... |

Unfortunately he got a DUI...not a smart move. Did I say he was above the law? Nope and I hope he had to live within the rules of the situation. I do not condone driving and drinking, I think people are stupid to drive after even one beer. I believe it was an embarassment to an organization that is "dedicated to safety". I also believe that his DUI has no more bearing on the members of the organization than the guy pitted next to us or a Safety Safari worker with a DUI on his driving record. Last I checked we weren't required to divulge any of this stuff to NHRA either. But what do I know...I live in the land of the whackos. |
