Re: Jeff Colvert at Beech Bend
The last NHRA event reference I can find(before this year), is over 10 yrs ago. Does anyone know for sure and what he's been doing in the meantime? Always wondered what had become of his Mustang - apparently he still has it.

Re: Jeff Colvert at Beech Bend
I talked to Jeff at Bowling Green this weekend. He said this was his first race in 8 years. Last time was 2001 in Bowling Green. Let me tell you that he hasn't been sitting on his butt for those years. He went 9.52 0n a 10.75 in SS/G.

Re: Jeff Colvert at Beech Bend
Hey Guy's I'AM BACK to quote Fast Eddy Felson.
Thanks for the good commits. Had to stop racing for a while to get a business running. Have after running a custom crankshaft shop for nearly 12 yrs. sold it and bought STS CNC CYL. HEADS. Been doing that for over a year now. Started building this new Cobra Jet engine about four years ago. Thanks to Kuntz and Company for all the precision machine work and advice on getting this new bullet together. Drug the old Girl out of the barn went racing. Glad I wasn't DQed for droping dirtdobber nest on the track. Boy was I having a ball at Bowling Green that sucker was really pawing the ground.Qiute a wake up call for me after not driving for eight years but what a rush. I'll gar on tee that will get an old farts heart pumping. Thanks again Guys Jeff Colvert 4456 SS/G |

Hey Dave,Just noticed where you were from. Didn't know I had any fans in Canada " EH" LOL but glad you noticed and care. Will try to put on a good show in the next few races. Still have some bugs and dirtdobber nest to work out.
Thanks, Jeff |
Re: Jeff Colvert at Beech Bend
Jeff, always had a soft spot in my heart(or head, not sure which), for "FE" stuff. I had a legit '68 Shelby and did some bracket racing and Shelby Club events with pieces from Barrie Poole. Back then, the "paper" hadn't been authored to classify those cars! If (I wish) I still had the car, I would probably still be racing it. Great to see you and your car back in competition.

Re: Jeff Colvert at Beech Bend
Don't know what it is about these old dumptruck motors, once you get to know them you are stuck. My first experence was also Shelbys. Saw my first one at 13 on the local Ford store lot.Was so impressed that at 17 found one used for $2600.it was a 68 GT 500 KR with 24000 mi. I still have it.After somking everything on the local out law drag strip I run across some ole boys that were racing NHRA stock and Super Stock class by the name of Kuntz & Buchanan been hooked ever sence.
Thanks Jeff Colvert 4456 SS/G |
