Intermittent starting problem 70 challenger
My 70 challenger soon to be stocker again can be extremely difficult to start. Fortunately the dakota stocker and my other cars are "drama free starters"
Engine Temp: ice cold, once it has some heat in it, it hasn't done this to me. Yesterday, it fired up pretty quickly for it 3-4 tries in the garage backed it out. Sat outside in the sun for a couple of hours, no way not going to start at all. Pushed it back in, tried it just for the hell of it, 2 hours later 1/8 of a key turn, started it back up again 5 more times last night without touching the gas the same way. Starter? MSD ignition? Its a 7 pre-digital Thanks Eric Merryfield |
Re: Intermittent starting problem 70 challenger
get the volt meter out. start w if 12 volts to switch side of starter., check grounds next.
so it has nothing when hot/ no crank? check all connections for 12 volt from key to starter. voltage drop somewhere. If you were in NY, I'd check it out. |

Fiat has a retro wiring harness available. Check the dealership in 3 weeks.

It is likely the float, it does run rich, maybe got a bit of varnish from some old gas. Car went 6 rounds, lost in the final on a .003 red.... Eric |
