Allen has been back behind the wheel for a while now. He went into the late rounds at some races last year and a final at the SportsNationals @ Belle Rose this year. Ain't it cool!

Between all the rain delays at the Southern Nationals, I had time to walk around and visit. I had a nice time talking to Allen Patterson. He was very friendly and eager to talk about his racing engines. This Sharp Contracting guy has some big bucks. I think he had five cars there and had Patterson engines in all of them.

The car that Bo Butner was driving blew the intake off that morning during warmup. Allen said it had happened twice to them now and they were a little mistified about what was causing it, then he quickly added that there was no nitrous involved.

Allen said he had a Chevy II SS/KA car that he went 10.19 in at Louisianna earlier this year, that's with a 283!

Wow it is good to see Allan racing i thought for a minute he was retired from racing LOL

Is it possible that this Chevy II is the same car that Allan ran back in the 70's that was on the cover of Superstock and Drag Illustrated or is it a different car? I'm trying to recall if that car was a 4 speed whereas this one is an automatic. I agree, its great to see him back out there again. I remember seeing him run at the NHRA World Finals at Ontario Motor Speedway back in I believe 79'.

Danny,
As far as I know Patterson's old Chevy II is in Tenn or KY. It had several different owners in Div 5 with the last being Don Sofranko before it went to its new home.

That car belonged to Norman Marsdon. Norman said they bought it for Todd's son, but I guess Grandpa had so much fun sorting it out they couldn't pry him out of it. He was testing it at Tulsa last year when they first got it running, and Allan was cutting lights like he had never stopped driving.

Thanks Bob and Ed. I'd forgotten that Don Sofrankos' car was the ex Patterson machine. I believe it was discussed on here quite a while ago. Danny Durham

Does anyone know the current status of the Chevy II? Who owns it and if they are competing with it in Super Stock presently?
