VP Prices??????

I went to buy some gas today, and the price for VP C12 was still $12 a gollon.
Regular gas on the road has gone down so much . Should race gas go down a little?
Or is the dealer just price gouging

Re: VP Prices??????

Most dealers have high product left from last year as myself, they did go down about 4% in dec but that is still only 20$ on a drum most input cost where locked in when crude was still high, as far as c11 c25 they are not petro based so they are still high. I hope it goes down before I go to get my first load this spring.

I don't think crude oil prices have much to do with racing fuel.

VP has always been high on pricing and do not like to change their prices unless it benefits them. I used to work there. I sell Rockett Brand now and our 111 is 450.00 a drum all day long. I adjust my pricing as my costs go up or down, but last year my prices were the same from May to November ( I ate the 8.00 a drum cost increase ). I am sure that if VP's cost goes down their pricing will not.

I bought Sunoco purple two weeks ago in Houston for $8.00 a gallon.

Diesel fuel costs have everthing to do with VP costs, because the truck that delivers the barrels runs on Diesel fuel. It's the shipping cost that varies.

Jim, I've been researching alternatives to the high cost of VP for several weeks. The Rockett web site has a wealth of information pertaining to not only their product ,but their competitors.....As far as I can tell no other manufacturer has done this. ........Having used 76 FUEL in the past ,I'm reasonably sure that Rockett will be up to the standard we expect of our fuels.....Personaly ,other than differences in transportation costs,it seems that VP's higher costs might be due to offering such a wide product line of micro market fuels. .....I'll be testing Rockett 118 and Sunoco Maximal against VP C16 in my SG 565 engine, to see if a 3 dollar a gallon difference in price is justified, or if we are just helping to pay the cost of being the official fuel of the NHRA. .......Tom

Is the Rocket brand approved by NHRA?

Joe, Rockett has three approved fuels on the list, I believe they were carried over from when it was Union 76. ....Tom
