I just got an email that we can now print credentials from home for national events. I will go on line and give it a try. According to the email, All we will have to do is go to a designated gate that excepts electronic credentials. The restricted area pass will still make you present ID and sign for same.

NHRA ANNOUNCES ELECTRONIC CREDENTIALS FOR SPORTSMAN COM*PETITORS

GLENDORA, Calif. (Jan. 14, 2009) – In an effort to streamline the onsite registra*tion process for Sportsman competitors at National Events, NHRA officials announced an electronic credential system allowing competitors registered to purchase and print cre*dentials prior to arriving on site.
Competitors can purchase credentials by clicking on the link provided within the Nation Event Registration confirmation email or by going to www.NHRAeventreg.com and clicking on the “Purchase Electronic Credentials” link. To login into the system com*petitors must enter their NHRA Membership Number. After purchasing credentials the system will provide an option to print credentials at that time or at a later date. A separate email confirmation will also be sent after completing the credential purchase. This confir*mation is important as it includes an access code and link to print or reprint credentials.
Competitors currently registered for a Full Throttle Drag Racing series event can click on the “Purchase Electronic Credentials” link to purchase and print credentials.
Drivers and crew members requiring a Restricted Area Pass will be directed to a location on site during National Events to sign a waiver. All drivers and competitors will need to bring their electronic credentials and photo ID. Crew members and competitors who do not need a Restricted Area Pass can simply use the online credential to enter the event. Please note the electronic credential will be limited to certain gates. Information on which gates are setup to accept electronic credentials will be located on the credential.
All competitors and crew members are required to have a credential to enter the facility each day of racing. Competitors and crew members without a credential will be required to purchase a credential at the VIP Credential trailer or by going to www.NHRAeventreg.com and clicking on “Purchase Electronic Credentials” link. The VIP Credential trailer will be available at each event to address customer service needs.

I received the same email.
I guess I do not see any advantage for the racer.
Yes for the spectator it will make it easier which should make shorter lines for the racer.
The racer still has to turn in a Tech Card and gets their credentials at the same time.
For me as a racer I am not sure what the advantages are.
Am I missing something?

For me, I think the shorter lines at credentials is the only BIG advantage. As I have been in line for HOURS before. So far, I have not got in the system. Tried my Gatornationals, there asking for a sales # and a 4 digit password. There must be more to it than I have yet. But this is still a good thing, late coming crew can get right in.

Doesn't make much sense to me either as a racer. Unfortunately, you still need to be there on Wednesday to make sure you don't get parked on mud or broken glass and at that point it's not a big deal waiting in line cause you don't have to be anywhere til the next morning. Seems like NHRA just want their money earlier.
And it looks like it's only for drivers and crew. It would make more sense for spectators.
