Lt1 block
Does anyone know if you can order a new LT1 bare block?

Re: Lt1 block
When I hurt the engine in my bracket car this summer I set out to find a brand new one one. The only way I could find a new block was to purchace a marine shortblock from Mercury Marine or a chevrolet dealer in Denver. I went and looked at one only difference I could see was that it had brass freeze plugs in it from the factory. I ended up not buying one and got a used 4 bolt main from a corvette cheap off ebay due to the $4600 price for the marine shortblock. I can tell you that there is a dealer in Denver Colorado that had 4 of them back in June and from what they told me they have had them for a long time due to a ordering error. If I can find the name in my notes I will pass it along.

Re: Lt1 block
Curtis, as for a new Bare Block, GM never offered it that way, at one time you could get a fitted block, but not any more!

Burt Chevrolet in Denver. They bought all the blocks from Chevy after they went out of production. The ones I bought from them were 4 bolt mains. That was a few years ago, so I don't know if they have any left.
