hurst 1/4 stick shifter question

i'am using a foward pattern valve body in a 400 now..going to be switching to a reverse pattern and was
going to buy a new 1/4 stick..but after removing the cover it looks like it can be used with a reverse
pattern..just pull the triger from 1-2 instead of 2-3? or do i need a new shifter?
thanks in advance

I would recommend the B&M pro rachet shifter, you can use it forward or reverse. It's pricey, but worth the money.

It will work both ways.

That's cool, I personally just never did like the Hurst products. Not that there is anything wrong with them. I don't like the idea of having to pull a lever to make a shift. With the B&M, you just pull or push the handle (forward or reverse pattern)and it only goes one gear at a time.

That one range at a time thing isn't really that handy coming out of the burnout, backing up, etc.....

It's really great. From park, 7 clicks and your in first on a forward pattern. The only the that makes it rough is on a reverse pattern is if you like to put it in neutral ( which I don't) crosing the finish line without going thru first, you cant' do it. But I don't kow if any shifter that will allow you to do that. It's just forward and reverse clicking untill your in the gear you want to be in. You can't over shift or under shift. Never miss one, and not have to worry about pulling a second lever to make a shift.

Had plenty of use of a 1/4 stick -- throw it away and get yourself a Turbo - Action shifter -- they are the best --- period .

Altho I know Jack loves the Turbo Actions shifters,[ I've put a bunch of them in his cars over the years], it's hard for me to go against using a 1/4 stick. ....I've had the same one in my Willys for 23 years. ....Used it with forward and reverse Turbo 400's and PowerGlides . One bad cable in all that time, last I checked I had over 4500 runs on the car!! .........The B&M's are ok too, especially if you want to air shift a 3 speed. ...Real easy to set up for that. ......Tom

My Quarter Stick broke the reverse lockout this year. You could shove it all the way from low gear to park without pulling the handle.

Less than 125 runs using this shifter too... brand new out of the box.

I am with Jack. I dont really like the roadmaps, but I will have a Turbo Action because it wont break!

I have one for sale three speed, reverse valve body type, pulled it out when I put the glide in the car.

Will take $100. for the shifter and the cable. no cover.
