Stupid money bout' gone
Now the NFL is tightening it's belt. The NFL is supposedly considering laying off some of it's staff. The NFL teams are going through the same process. Sounds like those 50 million dollar contracts for the players are history. But nhra keeps chugging along - no talk of them tightening the belt or reconsidering that extra million they are going to give to the pros next year.

Probably a lot less touring pro teams for 2009. The sponsor money is simply not there.

Which teams are on the financial bubble for next year? A couple of people have mentioned that Warren's deal may be over at Chevrolet.

Re: Stupid money bout' gone
“…because of the estimated $7 million it takes to compete in Nationwide's 35 races.”
Seven million…. to run one car in the second tier… the farm league? Sponsors drying up might be more to them evaluating cost/payback rather than a weak economy. |
Re: Stupid money bout' gone
I heard that Valvoline pulled the plug on all sportsman racing deals for next year. Has anybody else heard this? Is it true?

Oh, and this gem from that article:
Teams may have to hold back on... perks like having helicopters transport drivers to tracks. I do believe I am going to puke. |
