GM = General Mopar?
With the ongoing talks about a merger between GM and Chrysler, what do you think the future could hold for a car company named General Mopar? Good? Bad? Are there benefits? Drawbacks? A HEMI Corvette? LS10 Viper? What are your thoughts? Jim

Re: GM = General Mopar?
Sort of like the "bail out". It makes a bigger train wreck of a smaller one. I can see few, if any upsides to such a merger.

Re: GM = General Mopar?
Being serious.....I don't see it really happening according to what I've been reading.It looks like GM would need a HUGE amount of cash for this deal to go thru.However with the government possibly buying GMAC's bad mortgages,that could allow GM to borrow money to give to the 3 headed dog along with the rest of GMAC finance,in exchange for Chrysler's automobile operations.If it does happen,look for the Chrysler brand to go away like Plymouth,along with Pontiac and Buick.Jeep would be the only thing to help GM along with Cummins diesel engines.GM will dismantle Chrysler,keep what they want and get rid of the rest.
If Chrysler goes away...I'll run a Ford. |
