“Tag List” for Z-Max Dragway….
I’ll start by saying right up front that the facility Bruton & his organization built in the short 6 to 7 months they had to work with is nothing short of remarkable. Was it worth the 1150-mile round trip? Yes. But… with any new project, there’s always a list of things that were left out, need re-work or just need to be added to make it “right”. When starting with a clean sheet of paper, I feel it would have made sense to ask the racers for some input, maybe a sort of “wish list”. It could be things they would like to have included or have seen at other places that worked or maybe should be left out as bad ideas. They could have asked our Sportsman Advisory Council for some input and of course the PRO but, if they did, some really obvious “must haves” were conspicuously absent. Here’s what I came up with (in no particular order). Obviously some will be easier than others. Just add your thoughts and maybe the thread will catch someone’s eye and get passed along to the right people and added to their “Tag List” for the future.
-Increase the distance between the water box and the starting line -Shorten the walls at the end before the gravel trap by 30 feet or so making it easier to get off the track -Better (or more) loud-speakers in the Sportsman pit area -Make it easier to get from one side of the track to the other -Make the ramps more gradual to one of the 2 cross-over tunnels at about the 1000’ and use it for motorized vehicles while leaving the other tunnels for pedestrians -Cool-down area in the Sportsman pits or at least some access to water other than the hoses in the water box -Traffic lines to better indicate the “pre-staging” staging lanes along the fence I’m sure I missed a lot but this post is becoming too Jason-like already! Thanks! -Don |

AGREE !!
There were speakers on our side? We didn't see (hear) any! Spoke to John & Chuck of East Coast Electric and they said there weren't any on Pro side either!! |
Re: “Tag List” for Z-Max Dragway….
....add to the list (unless I missed them of course) :
-no "tear-down barn" -no showers (Bristol has a nice building with them) -Don |
Re: “Tag List” for Z-Max Dragway….
Don, the head of NHRA security told my sister that it was HIS facility, not Brutons. Might wanna send this list to him (Rob Johnson) too. :D
I think Troy Williams mentioned that he would like more garbage cans for the sportsman pit area. |
Re: “Tag List” for Z-Max Dragway….
Maybe some shuttle buses to get from 1 side to the other leaving every 15 minutes or so?

The speakers were aimed right into our trailer, 6 of them, about 12 feet off the ground. Your Tom saw them when he came to visit Dave. They were on our row, every other light post, in the sportsman pits. Barbara Seemann 172A S/C 172C S/G |

Jason...that Troy Williams comment took the cake.....(for those of you that didn't hear...he had a problem with NHRA after a Sat. night pit blowout...and won't be back anytime soon) Guys....don't get us wrong.....the facility was the nicest we've ever been to.....it has a couple of short comings....but I'm sure they will be resolved...... would we bitch if we were hung with a new rope......... |

Mark - That was the southern spelling. The girl with the nice tooth at the Flying J told me so.
