How was the decision for Indy made?

Was the decision to run the 128 quickest qualifiers a product of the advisory commitee, or did nhra come up with it on its own?

I know I will probably regret this, but what would be the big deal of having an ALL RUN field at Indy?

I know,this is a PERFORMANCE CLASS.

So if one car can run right on the index, and another can run 1.15 under with 300 pounds of extra weight on the brakes in 3500 ft Indy air,who is really performing, outperforming,or underperforming what?

The qualifying sheet at Indy should be interesting, with 128 cars all stacked up between -1.15 and -1.00 under.A lot of them will be the SAME combination.

I really don't think NHRA came up with this new rule.I could be wrong. If everybody was allowed to qualify, the field might actually reach the quota and NHRA would make more money.

Wow! Now there's a novel idea! But no, that would allow too many of those slow trailer trash cars in. We just couldn't have that, after all one of them might just might win the whole thing! Just wouldn't be right for the underdog to have a chance. Jim

If my memory is correct Mark Yacavone did win a national event with a FWD car once at E-Town....so it can and has happened. If no one else was able to win with one, well it doesn't appear to be anyone's fault but the racers that run them.......

Does anyone know the answer to the question? It has nothing at all to do with slow cars/ fast cars etc.

Ritch,
The biggest problem with FWD cars is consistency. If they were more consistent they would have a better chance. That and Yak was just plain lucky! Jim

Sorry Art but I don't think you are going to get an answer from anyone who really knows the reason. Many people have been asking the same thing for almost a week now. I hear crickets chirping! Jim

It seems that the way this total reversal of years of history was turned on it's head will forever remain a mystery!
The only conclusion that can be reached is the powers that be are hunkered down in their bunkers so proud of their actions that they are afraid they might be injured by racers patting them on the back congratulating them if they come forward with a CONFESSION!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd just like to know if our representitives okayed this.
Is that asking to much?
A simple yes or no would suffice.

Simple question. Why can't anybody get an answer to this? Its been asked repeatedly in several threads.
Committee either voted on it or didn't. Either knew nothing about it or didn't. Seems like a pretty easy answer unless there is a "gag order". If there is a blackout of info why?
