**WARNING** Thefts in the Pits
Just a warning......I attended the Norwalk Nationals this weekend, I mingled around the pits until 12:00am on Friday night (had 3rd round in the morning). I got up in the morning and unloaded my car. Upon warming up my car my father noted that my EZ-GO custom painted golf cart was missing. I had the keys, and radio faceplate in my RV, and the cart was stolen between 12am and 7am. To make a really long story short we found my golf cart in a back field abandoned (no ignition damage) and trashed. Aparently the people who stole it decided to stack up garbage cans and SMASH into them with my cart.
Damages 1) Smashed Headlight 2) Smashed Windshield 3) Custom Paint Job all scratched and cracked 4) LED accent lighting inoperable 5) Roof bent 6) COVERED in mud I turns out that there were spectators camping out at the track (the new motor home parking areas) and they all got drunk stole 3 golf carts and trashed them. Also this year in Atlanta a few RV's were robbed and stole a couple thousand dollars in Cash + credit cards. So notice to all racers put everything away whenever possible and/or lock up EVERYTHING. TRUST NOBODY! P.S. one of the other golf carts that were stolen was the racetracks SECURITY cart! They have REALLY GOOD SECURITY for us! |

Re: **WARNING** Thefts in the Pits
Hard to beleive that from Norwalk. I remember a few years ago my wife and I were going to get water for the RV. The security guy stopped us and said go back to our pit and park the golf cart.
The craziest thing I heard was Mike Petrie's windshield molding was stolen off his Stocker at MIR. It happened in broad daylight not 5 min. after his qualifying run. Chip |
Re: **WARNING** Thefts in the Pits
Chip back when Norwalk was IHRA, they had a deal where all motorized carts was parked 11pm and sercurty was high after that. Wonder why that stopped?
Steve Hoyt was parked beside us and said he heard people outside his rig and ours around 4am, went outside and they took of with a white golf cart from somewhere, but he didnt have anything missing and we didnt have anything come up missing either. If everybody remembers, it was way worse last year for campers in the pits at Norwalk. |

Re: **WARNING** Thefts in the Pits
I believe all ez-go carts use the same key. I know all 96 to 00 club car cart keys are the same.
What you need to do is change the key switch this will stop most of the thieves. they will go to an easier one. |
Re: **WARNING** Thefts in the Pits
Chris,
Let me begin by saying I am sorry about your golf cart. The people responsible for stacking up the trash cans and smashing into them were pitted across the field from us. They were NOT racers. The Bader's have always had a wonderful facility and Norwalk is one of my favorite tracks. However, in the future, there has to be something done about letting the spectators park in the pit area with the racer's. We had to lock up everything each time we left to go watch racing. I believe if enough people share their concerns, there is a good chance that the Bader family will do things differently next year. Amy |
Re: **WARNING** Thefts in the Pits
A couple years back, two guys were caught in the parking lot at Englishtown with the doors off of WJ's Pro Stock.

Sorry, could't resist. |
Re: **WARNING** Thefts in the Pits
It seems to me it was actually at Commerce that somebody grabbed WJ's door and was caught. When they found the guys car he had a bunch of other stolen stuff also.
