More rules changes

Maybe we will see more oldy-but-goody cars in SS next year?

Section 10A
Drivetrain: 2
Page 150 (05/08)
Transmission, Manual: Add to section “Effective 1/1/2009: If any engine/manual transmission combination is listed in the class blueprint specification as being available with only a three-speed manual transmission, it may be replaced with any four-speed manual transmission.

Dwight:

I hear there are more rules changes coming if not already available for everyone to see.
You can now use bigger, better pushrods, guide plates, bigger studs, etc.
This will help alot of the guys that were having valve train problems

I'm not saying I agree with all these changes beings I am old school( and I mean old)
but at least it will save some engines now and then.

SEB -
Those valvetrain changes are being discussed on a thread in the tech forum. Big pushrods & guideplates for everthing that needs them. Another result of getting away from stock specs on the valvetrain (spring pressure and duration).

With this 4-speed rule in SS, will we see Verne in a '56 Ford with a 292??

Looks like James Lee and a couple of other die-hards will be all that will benefit, although a 2-4 bbl '57 Chevy might attract a few old gray hairs.

I wonder if this rule will transfer over to GT?? Then you might have some strange combinations. How about a '56 265 in a new Cobalt with a Jerico?

I personally would like to see a '62 Plymouth 383-343 in E/Stick.

A 1956 Ford is not in the class guide

No 265's in any GT when you have the underfactored waaay better Caddy 350's at what..180HP vs 200, or even the Olds'307's GTMA covered by those two and probably other hidden unfactored gems...as an aside, someone is planning a '55 sedan delivery for GT (I've heard)

I talked with James Lee at Dallas, and he was looking forward to this change...should be fun. I'm also old school and kinda' hate to see these deviations from our historical-legacy classes....oh, well...time marches on....'ya suppose 'ol Farmer Dismuke is spinning? Man, cars used to be tossed for the wrong emblems or trim pieces....
