chassis certification
Help, I do not have a current rule book, mine is 2007. The nhra site is not very up to date either. How quick can a bracket car go before chassis certification is req'd ? i always thought is was 10 seconds flat has that changed ?

Re: chassis certification
Roll cage is mandatory in all cars running 10.99 (6.99 1/8) or faster, or any car exceeding 135 MPH.
In full bodied cars with unaltered floor or firewall roll bar is permitted between 10.00 & 10.99 in place of a cage. I've always thought if any safety equipment is required it needs to meet certification requirements. |
Re: chassis certification
The previous poster's information is accurate, but doesn't address the specific, original question.
From the General Regulations (page 120) of the 2008 IHRA Rulebook: Chassis certifications are mandatory on all entries running 9.00 or quicker 1/4 mile, or 6.00 or quicker 1/8 mile or on any vehicle that exceeds 150 mph. |
Re: chassis certification
Ok, thanks for the IHRA rules, how about NHRA. Is it still req'd @ 9.99 et ?

Re: chassis certification
Cars running between 7.50 & 9.99 must have chassis inspected every 3 years by NHRA and have a serialized sticker affixed to the cage before participation.
