4Cyl. Turbo
A friend of a friend called me about a turbo pre '90 Dodge 4 cyl. that runs C/FS. It runs .80 under the index during thr summer. What I know about turbos tells me that the boost varies from run to run. Is this a good choice for Stock ?

Re: 4Cyl. Turbo
I think it`d be a good car to start with in Stock, especially running that quick in the summer. Sure, the turbo stuff can be inconsistant, but it`d a lot of fun to start with, and a good chance at a Class Wally. If it doesn`t cost too much,I think your friend of a friend would have a lot of fun. Lane

Re: 4Cyl. Turbo
I built a turbo plymouth sundance about 5 years ago for stock and it was a blast! I ran 70 under with a junk yard motor that never had the heads off! I gave up because it was very inconsistent. Still have some good parts if someone needs, converter, injectors, fuel pump, ecm.

Re: 4Cyl. Turbo
I sat the B/FS record @ 14.13 (index'es have since changed) with the original, untouched, 75K mile engine with my '87 Shelby Z Daytona. I then built the engine as you would any stocker and set the A/FS record @ 13.26. This was a factory 5-speed. Once the "junkyard" parts were replaced by a real, blue-printed engine and the boost was cranked way up, I'd say the car was very consistant. Just make sure the boost goes up along with C-16 for fuel!

Re: 4Cyl. Turbo
Denis Chapman runs one in div 1 and would be the one to talk to . What little I know about any EFI car is the computor is the key for performance and constancy

Re: 4Cyl. Turbo
The car can be pretty consistant. Every now and then they will shoot out a fast run.
Some drivers have done well with them some have not. Guess which category I fit into? LOL |
