Does anyone remember who owned this car
Does anyone remember who raced a 1964 Plymouth max wedge, A/SA, black called "Reverend Mr. Black."?

I'm not sure if there was more than one, but here was "The Reverend Mr. Black" at Beaver Springs last year.
Hopefully the current number on the windshield may help! Lew |

Here are a couple of my pics of Reverend Mr Black III from the 2011 Pocono Drag Lodge Reunion -

I believe that I saw it in Christian Motorsports Journal (sic) about a dozen years ago in a feature article.

Re: Does anyone remember who owned this car
In viewing the engine pic, it appears that the driver's side inner fender panel has been altered to accomodate the factory provided "square cast" exhaust manifold that only the five aluminum cars were blessed with. A set of those manifolds sold recently on e-bay for 15k according to one of my MOPAR freak friends.

The general thought in "some" mopar circles is that the tri y's never made it into actual production cars. Everyone has their own ideas though. Actual 64 Belvedere max wedge production was 69 cars total of these over 50 appear to have had aluminum front ends.Total 64 Savoy Max Wedge 2dr production was 64 cars, with 48 cars receiving aluminum fronts. The above is from the Darrell Davis books. As for 5 cars remaining, I think I could come up with a few more than that, some just aren't reported to Galen Govier etc....Very cool cars. Here's a photo of the tri y's that sold on ebay when they were in Ft. Dodge,IA. Nice conversation piece to have in the corner, but really cool that the current owner put them on a car. FYI, Alex |
