ATI Trans Fluid

Anyone ever switch between the Super F and the Max Duty Super F and see a difference in stall rpm or % slippage. Looking to tighten things up a bit on the converter.

I would also be interested making converter a little tighter. I think trans fluid comes in different viscosity and seeing if anyone has any experience in this. Thanks Jeff

Obviously, any info you gather here (from racers) will be helpful, but I would call ATI and ask them what they've heard from customer/users, and based on that, what they would expect you to see.

Try some Mobil 404 hydraulic oil.

It will tighten up the converter but not a set amount. Every combination will be a little different.

Thanks Marty that is exactly what I was looking for.

The kinematic viscosity of the Max Duty is similar to heavier hydraulic fluids such as John Deere Hy-Gard and Allison Transynd. Most regular trans fluids regardless of brand have similar kinematic viscosity. I imagine it depends on weight, rpm, and torque on what the converter will see.

Also what happens to different fluids at different temperatures.

Most manufactures post their kinematic viscosity at 40 and 100 degrees so that you can compare them.

Torco also offers low and high viscosity ATF as well.

If you do plan on trying the heavier oils, make sure you use a screen type filter, not fabric type

I'll be trying the JD hydraulic oil at Bowling Green in a few weeks and will see if it lowers rpm by a 100-200 going through the top end. Got the screen in, fluid level full and ready to go.

Spike 1
What did you find?

Also curious if hyd fluid changes reaction times?

If it lowers the rpm at top end.
Does it lower the Stall hit?

Re: ATI Trans Fluid

It lowered rpm thru the lights by a good 100 RPM and flash rpm went down almost 100.
