Coolant recovery on 68 Cutlass
Current set up is 16 lb. cap with the overflow hose going onto ground. With 116 degree outside I'm running 235 and when shut off it will spit out a little. I'm wanting to run a recovery tank but trying find proper radiator cap to let water from tank suck back in. I believe my current cap is 1 way? I think. assuming tank needs hose coming from bottom to always be submerged into water and allow suction back into radiator when cooled.

Re: Coolant recovery on 68 Cutlass
Jeff, I'm not an expert but I see no one else has responded so I'll give it a shot. First, 235 degrees is pretty hot for an older car and sometimes I would find issues with timing or advance in the distributor especially on Buicks and Oldsmobiles that would effect the running temp. I'm pretty sure we bought recovery kits back in the day which consisted of a recovery tank, hoses, and I think a cap and they may have came from NAPA. The tank was pretty large, at least a quart maybe a little more
