1965 Corvette Stocker build Q's
Is the 327/300 hp combo good? Does anyone make a good carb for this setup?
Who makes a 12 bolt rear setup for the Corvette IRS rear? Just investigating at this moment. Any and all advice is appreciated on this combo/car set up. Thanks. Rich Boyle |

Mark Markow did mine for my 74 vette. It's a work of art. It would hook in the water box. BP

Re: 1965 Corvette Stocker build Q's
If I was building one, I think I would go with 66-67 Holley vs the 65 AFB. The HP factor is 5 less with automatic transmission. The quick fuel carb is pretty good. The secondary throttle plates are a little larger in the AFB, but is lacking elsewhere. Just something else you might want to investigate before hand.
I think Stephen Belanger has run the AFB some on his Chevy II. Ernie Neal SS 354 |

Why use an IRS rear, if you can run a solid axle? Seems as though the solid axle would be more efficient and weigh less with fewer parts to break. Also, would save a lot of money.
I'm wondering if there is a bolt in solid axle available. That way you could save the stock IRS for later. Seems like I've seen an A/S or B/S with a solid. Hard to imagine a 700 HP motor not destroying almost any IRS. Loren |

If it came with a powerglide can you change it to a 3 speed automatic? I heard mixed answers on this.

If you are going to change to a 3 speed you need to be careful which tranny you choose the tunnels in that series Vette is not real big and accommodating to large case trannies.. oops, Transmissions...

Re: 1965 Corvette Stocker build Q's
I guess I should have said the car was built around a Powerglide, not a turbo 400.
I forgot it is not PC to use Trannie.. LOL |
Re: 1965 Corvette Stocker build Q's
I got a Turbo 350 in it now , no issues. It's got an IRS with a Moroso Beute Force posi and chrome moly half shafts with solid ujoints axle retaining loops, chrome moly drive shaft, offset trailing arms. Polyurehane bushings and body mounts. Fiberglass rear spring. I'd need a flat hood, cage, motor, brakes, wheels tires, etc. I'd need to sell the other car first if I go this route. It's more in the investigation faze now. Thanks for all the input so far.
