89 Caprice wagon

Saw one for sale locally. 307 Olds? Am I reading the specs right?

Surprised at that engine in a Chevy . Thought it would be a 305 or 350 Chevy with a 700-R4 transmission . There were no BOP overdrive automatics built after 1988 .

The Classification Guide shows 307/140, "General Motors, Olds V8 Small Block" as the only legal choice for the wagon. The sedans got the 305/170 Chevy.

Yes, but only the flat tappet, big port engine..Pontiac too.
Olds wagon get either 307.
Buick, no big wagons after 1988.
Strange mix.
Must have been an early 89 combo, with 88 200 4r's.
Olds 237 hp engine might make a decent R/SA car, if you like the heavyweights.

I was surprised to see this one for sale, not many left. Not an Olds expert but the 240 HP rating scared me a bit. It does have a 200-4R.

Re: 89 Caprice wagon

The Hydramatic plant that built the 200-4R closed at the end of the 1988 model year . I knew they stock piled enough transmission so they could build the 1989 Pontiac Firebird with the 3.8 L Buick Turbo engine , but I am surprised to hear about the wagon . They must have also stock piled some for the Station Wagons . They were super low production volumes so I guess they built them along with all the service transmissions before they shuttered the plant .

All that and I've got a bunch of Olds 307 parts leftover from back in the day......
