2019 Dodge Challenger RT 1320

Dodge announced a new addition to their Challenger RT Scat Pac lineup called the "1320". It is reportedly aimed at the "weekend racer" who drives his car every day. It has the 6.4L/392 Hemi, drag radials, no passenger or rear seat to save weight, a line lock, trans brake, heavy duty half shafts, the ability to cool down between rounds, etc. ET's are estimated to be 11.70's off of the showroom floor. I would be concerned that it wouldn't fit into the street class at my local track because of the rules against line locks and trans brakes in that class. That leaves the no box bracket class which doesn't allow traction control. It doesn't matter whether you are actually using it or not. If they are on the car it is fair to assume they are being used. Any thoughts on bracket racing this car?

I see this was introduced at the mile high nationals how fast did it run there ?
Either way I see it as a cool car and glad to see the manufacturers looking towards our sport
I do believe it would be legal to race in the street class they will find ways to allow it 👍

You know how some guys are though. They will contest the legality of your car as soon as they lose to you. I once had a guy contest my car in a street class because I opened up my exhaust. Add the factory GPS to the Challenger 1320 package and some guys would freak out and accuse you of cheating.

They turned off the boards but it was low 13's.

I guess time will tell and depending on what track division etc. I know how you feel though because once my street car was tossed because I didn’t have DOT approved front tires the next week I came back with street tires. I felt safer with the Speed rated drag fronts then I did with the cheap streets but it’s OK. it’s their rules

Huge difference. Should be deep 12's in good air.

Doesn't take any speed secrets to make that Hemi wake up. Lots of ways to do that. But is it a car without a class to race in if it can be so easily protested?

This could be a great start up class for NHRA to get in. I've been after them for the past five years to start a class just for new cars. I've talked to BFG drag tire comp person in charge for their sales and would love to see an NHRA class at divisional level and then at national level. They could call it the 1320 class. Imagine all the Mustangs, Z/28, Camrys and so on that would love to show up in this class. It would be in a bracket racing format, no modification except tires, wheel and exhaust no headers, of course a gear change only/lol
\ But like usual NHRA will drop the ball.

What Stock class will the Challenger 1320 fit in today?
Will it be competitive against the cars currently in the class?
