Dang Todd, that thing is too "purdy" to race......

My post a year ago tomorrow (post #139 in this thread) still holds true today, Todd.

Nope it got rained out. Maybe he went to the test and tune?

The event did get rained out although they still held the "pro test session" on Friday. My crew couldn't go and it was overcast and a chance of rain although they did make it all day without rain.

We did make it out this past Saturday to test. Just a normal test-n-tune day. Prep isn't great on those days, plus it was cold and overcast. Started out in the upper 30's in the morning to a high of 52 when we left. Running a 315 radial with a nose heavy car is gonna be a challenge. Not sure I can make it work consistently, but I'm gonna try for a while. I have 27+ years of racing on a radial and really wanted to try and stick with it. If it becomes apparent it's just not gonna work, I'll be forced to change to a M/T 3062W 29.5 x 10.5W bias tire.

Car had come traction issues. Four attemps and spun every time. Shock adjustments each time, no change at all though. Came home, looked at the data and also the pictures the track photographers posted and decided the car needed a 4 link bar change. Spent the last two evenings with the car on scales measuring and plotting the 4 link again, then moving the bars.

One other issue on track is the air shifter wasn't activating. I believe it's a problem with the programming in the Holley EFI, so I gotta look into that later this week.

Car felt good, brakes bed in on the first pass and feel good, so once it hooks I should be good to let it ride out to a full 1/8 mile pass.

I'll post some pictures once I get a little time to upload them.

If you changed to top sportsman can’t you fit a larger tire? My old super gas car would have a little trouble once in a while with cold temps and marginal track prep with 14.5x32’s. It would of been a lot harder trying to run it with 10.5’s.

I am definitely starting out in T/S.

This car was never meant to be a big tire car. I built it around the 315 Pro radial, so I only stretched the wheel wells for the 30" tire. IMO this body style car looks horrible as a big tire car.

I have numerous things to try and make the car hook consistently. Instant center, front end travel, ballast, launch timing retard, and if I really wanted to dog it out of the hole the Coan 400xlt th400 has a second gear leave valve body.

Time will tell if I can make it work or not.
