In "as cast" condition, most of GM's cylinder heads ( stock or performance) are not to spectacular, flow wise. Quality of the castings are very good. The machine work from the factory is good, I would still strip them down and check your clearance's. In a performance application I would install bronze guide liners and perform a multi angle valve job on both intake and exhaust valves and seats.. The biggest operation is making sure the valve springs match the camshaft that you would be planning on using, be sure to get the open and close pressure's corrected. Also making sure the retainers clear the top of the valve guides and seals for the lift the camshaft will be opening. Then check and equalize your combustion chamber CC's . That's my two cents worth, new castings with up to date improvements are money well spent. Respectfully, Henry Kunz 1534 H/SA |

Re: GM Aluminum Heads
The Fast Burn heads are decent out of the box
but with a little work on the short side they become Stellar! |
Re: GM Aluminum Heads
What intake works good with them, on say a 327 super stock type engine ?
